Our Approach

Here at SHIFT Employment, we understand that sometimes staff call in sick, are unable to work perhaps due to childcare issues or other personal circumstances.  We also understand that workloads in healthcare organisation swing form one extreme to the other.  We understand how difficult it is for healthcare managers to predict these capacity and demand fluctuations.  It is our mission to assist organisations to always provide safe healthcare effectively and efficiently.

Having worked at the coalface as nurses and nurse managers, we understand how stressful it can be to be short-staffed and also how important it is to provide quality safe care to patients. When you therefore request staff from us perhaps due to an unforeseen shortage, we know what you are going through and will work hard to find the right staff for to cover your shortfall.

Our Service

We provide experienced healthcare staff:

  • for one-off shifts to cover staff shortfalls or absence, often at short notice
  • to help staff a new service
  • to provide emergency cover in busy periods
  • on a temporary to permanent basis
  • as regular, on-going support to full-time teams
  • on a contract or SLA (Service Level Agreement) basis

Whatever your staffing requirements, we are experienced in providing a flexible and bespoke service, tailored exactly to your needs. You can be assured that the staff we supply are carefully selected and appropriately matched to your requirements.

Our Staff

All qualified nurses that we supply are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the UK regulatory body that is responsible for education, practice and conduct of nurses and midwives. The NMC requires all nurses to carry out their duties in accordance with the current NMC guidance on Standards for conduct, performance and ethics.  We ensure that all our nurses abide by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and we obtain evidence that professional registration requirements are met and maintained on an ongoing basis.

Our Midwives are trained to degree level and have experience in:

  • providing full antenatal care, including parenting classes, clinical examinations and screening
  • identifying high-risk pregnancies
  • monitoring women and support them during labour and the birthing process
  • teaching new and expectant mothers how to feed, care for and bathe their babies
